Cold Sore Treatment Hot Remedies For Cold Sores

Submitted by: Denny Bodoh

There are many cold sore treatment products and methods available to you today. Some work and some do not. How do you know whom to trust?

In this article you will learn of three favorite cold sore treatment options that have proven themselves to work for nearly everyone who tries them. Give them a try before wasting money on another cold sore treatment.

One big problem with cold sores, they can be quite painful. Most of the cold sore treatment products in the stores contain numbing agents – such as benzocaine – that helps relieve the pain.

These products work very well for immediate comfort, but do not expect them to shorten the duration of your cold sore.

To get rid of your cold sore quickly is most important for you to reclaim your social life. These three cold sore treatment methods are some of the most effective tactics for cold sores, fever blisters and oral herpes that we know about today.

1. LYSINE AMINO ACID.

Lysine is a very powerful cold sore treatment when used as an internal therapy. There are some salves that promote using lysine as a topical remedy. It does not work well this way because it does not absorb well through the skin.

When you flood your body with lysine, your cells will get rid of some of the cold sore friendly arginine and replace it with lysine. Arginine is the main protein in the herpes simplex virus. Without sufficient arginine, cold sores cannot continue and will heal up quickly.

To get extra lysine you can eat high lysine foods such as fish and dairy products. Usually this is not enough to quickly get rid of a current cold sore.

Better yet are lysine capsules. They are a very easy and cheap way to get a lot of lysine in a hurry. Most folks use about 2000 to 4000 milligrams per day as a cold sore treatment, and 500 milligrams per day between cold sores.

2. ALOE VERA GEL.

Aloe Vera is a very easy to grow green plant. The leaves contain a thick liquid gel that is an amazing healer. You will be surprised how fast your cold sore heals with application of this gel. It is like skin fertilizer.

Keep in mind that bottled Aloe Vera gel does not work very well for cold sores. You will be much more successful using LIVE gel from a live plant. Every home should have one of these plants.

Simply pinch off a few millimeters of a leaf and the leaf sap will start oozing out. Apply this to your cold sore using the leaf section as an applicator. The plant heals itself very quickly.

3. GARLIC CLOVE.

Garlic is a powerhouse when it comes to disease healing and prevention. It is a tremendous cold sore treatment. Garlic is a great internal, as well as external, remedy. It can actually enter your body right through the skin. (Put some on your feet and you will taste it within 20 minutes.)

As with Aloe Vera, fresh garlic is best. When it is more convenient, garlic oil and powder will work fine. Garlic oil is available in bottles and gel caps you can snip open.

Take a garlic clove, cut off a chunk and rub the oil on your cold sore area. This cold sore treatment works great at every stage of a cold sore. Crushing the clove into an oily paste works well too.

Taking garlic internally will more than double its effectiveness as a cold sore treatment. Yes, it does have a strong smell. If it bothers you can use the odorless garlic capsules, but they do not work as well.

There are several other great cold sore treatment tactics, but these are some of the best as reported by many cold sore victims worldwide. You can use these together or with other remedies for enhanced performance.

As you can see, you do not need to waste money on prescriptions or expensive salves or lotions. You will find that the best cold sore treatment techniques are simple, cheap and often in your cupboard.

Do You Know The Symptoms Of Rheumatoid Arthritis

By Jeff Foster

Did you know there are common symptoms for rheumatoid arthritis?

A friend of mine was complaining of how her morning stiffness had gotten worse over the last couple of months. I began to ask her if she was having any other problems. She started giving details of other ailments she was experiencing.

I asked her ‘Do you think you could possibly have rheumatoid arthritis?’ Looking at me like I was from outer space!

She immediately responded with a look of shock.

We had a lively conversation as we began to try and figure out the common symptoms for rheumatoid arthritis. I explained to my friend that I had recently researched rheumatoid arthritis and had learned quite a few facts, particularly some of the common symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

I explained that I had learned that rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints, tissues around the joints and organs in the body. An autoimmune disease is an illness which occurs when the body tissues are mistakenly attacked by its own immune system. Rheumatoid arthritis can cause joint destruction and functional disability. It is an extremely painful disease. It can strike children, teens and adults.

There are several common symptoms for rheumatoid arthritis.

The most common symptom is pain and stiffness of the joints. Normally first thing in the morning or after you have been resting is when the stiffness is more severe.

Another common symptom for rheumatoid arthritis is inflammation. This causes swelling in and around the joints.

Other common symptoms for rheumatoid arthritis are called extra-articular symptoms, or simply symptoms outside of the joints. These symptoms can include small nodules that develop over the elbow and forearms, anemia and tiredness, generally feeling poorly, weight loss, fever and muscle aches and pains. In a not so common symptom of rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation can develop in other parts of the body such as the heart, blood vessels, lungs or eyes.

After talking with my friend about the common symptoms for rheumatoid arthritis she looked a little concerned.

‘What is the matter?’ I asked.

She told me that she has had several of the symptoms that I mentioned. The afternoon wasn’t over yet before she did the right thing and made an appointment with her medical doctor to discuss the possibility of her having rheumatoid arthritis.

If you think you may have rheumatoid arthritis it is important to see you doctor as soon as possible.

Common symptoms for rheumatoid arthritis are easy to detect and it is the early and aggressive treatment of rheumatoid arthritis can help you live a full and active lifestyle.

U.S. Housing prices down 9% since February

Sunday, June 26, 2005

The median house price in the United States plunged 6.5% in May to $217,000. In February of 2005, the median price of a home was $237,300.

The Economist newspaper said in its June 16th issue; “In other words, it looks like the biggest bubble in history.” by way of reference to what is happening with housing prices in the USA and much of Europe.

Japan provides an example of how a boom can turn to bust. Property prices have dropped for 14 years in a row (40% from their peak in 1991); and yet, the rise in prices in Japan during the decade before 1991 was less than the increase over the past ten years in most of today’s “housing boom” countries.

The total value of residential property rose by more than $30 trillion over the past five years in developed economies, an increase equivalent to 100% of the combined GDPs of those countries. This increase dwarfs all previous house-price booms and is greater than the global stockmarket bubble in the late 1990s. Much of the recent housing activity is being driven by speculative demand. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported that 23% of all American houses bought in 2004 were for investment, not for owners to live in. Another 13% were bought as second homes. NAR also found that 42% of all first-time buyers made no down-payment on their home purchase last year.

Many investors are buying solely because they think prices will keep rising, which is a warning sign of a financial bubble. In Miami, Florida, as many as half of the original buyers resell new apartments even before they are built, and properties can change hands two or three times before somebody finally moves in.

Britain’s Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) reported prices have been falling for ten consecutive months. Forty nine percent of their surveyors reported falling prices in May. This was the weakest report since 1992 during Britain’s previous house-price bust.

Raw Opals spend week preparing for London Games

Monday, May 21, 2012

Bruce, Canberra — This past week, an overstocked Australian Opals, the women’s national basketball team, prepared for the 2012 Olympic Games in London with a weeklong training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) to be used to help narrow the nineteen member Opals squad down to the twelve that go to the Games, and provide players who rarely play together an extended period of time to play together in order to improve on court dynamics.

Camp started on Sunday, with players arriving from hometowns around Australia including Cairns, MacKay, Gladstone, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Melbourne.

The defending champions, the United States women’s national basketball team, are perceived as the Australian Opals’ main competitors. In the last three Olympic Games the Opals got silver medals. In each of these cases the United States got first place. Coach Carrie Graf said “thinking about the US too soon in inappropriate”, “Our focus is first and foremost, game by game winning our pool”. Amongst the Australian Opals’ competitors in the pool are Brazil, Russia, and Great Britain. Carrie Graf said Great Britain “will put up a fight on home turf” but there is a “world class [AIS] facility” and “world class medical support staff” supporting the team.

Australian Opal player Penny Taylor recently suffered injury from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, meaning she cannot play Olympics this year. In regards to the situation player Lauren Jackson, who is going into her fourth Olympics, said “you would never wish that upon anybody.” She says as a team they have to “move on, move through that” and “come together” to pick up their offence and defense. Despite the loss of one of their key players she says “we definitely have the talent there” and the team is all “on the same page.” She feels “pretty confident” and speaks of “very exciting” times ahead. Jenna O’Hea is going into her first Olympics with the team. She is still “pinching” herself and says she is taking it “day by day”.

A typical day at the camp might start with a 7.00am – 8.30am breakfast at the AIS Dining hall, before one and a half or two hours of court, gym, or swimming training. The middle of each day might consist of media meetings, medical checks, team meetings, and time to practise shooting. Around 12.00pm, the players meet to eat lunch and recover from the morning. The afternoon typically consists of more training, and some scrimmage games. Players usually finish around 7.00pm for dinner, and perhaps a massage.

The nineteen players in attendance this week at training camp were Suzy Batkovic, Abby Bishop, Elizabeth Cambage, Rohanee Cox, Cayla Francis, Kristi Harrower, Laura Hodges, Natalie Hurst, Lauren Jackson, Rachel Jarry, Kathleen MacLeod, Jenna O’Hea, Samantha Richards, Jennifer Screen, Belinda Snell, Marianna Tolo, Kristen Veal, Carly Wilson, and Hanna Zavecz. Basketball Australia has named fifteen players that are to attend the second phase of the camp: Suzy Batkovic, Abby Bishop, Elizabeth Cambage, Kristi Harrower, Laura Hodges, Lauren Jackson, Rachel Jarry, Kathleen MacLeod, Jenna O’Hea, Erin Phillips, Samantha Richards, Jennifer Screen, Belinda Snell, Marianna Tolo, and Hanna Zavecz.

Wikinews interviews Joe Schriner, Independent U.S. presidential candidate

Saturday, April 17, 2010

Journalist, counselor, painter, and US 2012 Presidential candidate Joe Schriner of Cleveland, Ohio took some time to discuss his campaign with Wikinews in an interview.

Schriner previously ran for president in 2000, 2004, and 2008, but failed to gain much traction in the races. He announced his candidacy for the 2012 race immediately following the 2008 election. Schriner refers to himself as the “Average Joe” candidate, and advocates a pro-life and pro-environmentalist platform. He has been the subject of numerous newspaper articles, and has published public policy papers exploring solutions to American issues.

Wikinews reporter William Saturn? talks with Schriner and discusses his campaign.

Time Warner, Sprint close to mobile pact

Wednesday, December 29, 2004

New YorkTime Warner Cable is close to a deal with Sprint Corp. to offer mobile telephone service under the TimeWarner brand to the cabler’s 11 million subscribers, according to a report in Wednesday’s The Wall Street Journal.

If such a deal is struck, Time Warner will be the first cable company to offer the so-called “quadruple threat” in telecommunications, by offering voice, video, internet and mobile services in a single package.

The Journal reported that Time Warner would test market the new mobile service in Kansas City before the end of March.

Any such deal could strengthen Time Warner’s plans to expand its entry into the telephony market. The company said it expects to have 200 thousand voice customers when it closes its 2004 books Friday. As of mid-December, the company said it was adding about 10 thousand new wired voice customers per week.

For voice customers Time Warner is competing with regional telephone monopolies Verizon, SBC and BellSouth, which among them control the two largest mobile networks in the United States: Verizon and Cingular.

Cadillac unveils Obama’s ‘Beast’, the 2009 Presidential State Car

Saturday, January 17, 2009

The US Secret Service has released the first photos Wednesday of the new presidential limousine that will transport Barack Obama down Pennsylvania Avenue next Tuesday as part of the 56th Presidential inaugural parade after he is sworn in at the Capitol. The First Limo – the 2009 Cadillac Presidential Limousine – will replace President Bush’s Cadillac DTS Presidential Limousine that rolled out in 2004.

Nicknamed “The Beast”, the hulking machine is a new model year 2009, modified limousine. According to General Motors, the new “2009 Cadillac Presidential Limousine” is the first not to carry a specific model name. The Obama Mobile was introduced on January 14 with noticeably different styling borrowed from the Cadillac Escalade and STS, while the suspension is most likely related to the Chevrolet Kodiak medium-duty truck.

Mr. David Caldwell of General Motors has revealed that the sleek black car would include a hand-crafted interior and “state of the art electronics.” The car’s high-tech security features include five-inch-thick (12.7-centimeter-thick) bombproof glass, tough-as-nails tires, and a sealed interior that’s invulnerable to chemical attack. The armoured limousine has been heavily modified to withstand potential attacks by weapons or bombs. The San Francisco Chronicle puts it in a proper perspective noting, “a half-inch of transparent armor is enough to stop a .44 Magnum round at point-blank range; at a thickness of 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches, the same material can withstand higher-velocity bullets fired from military assault rifles.”

According to spy photographer, Brenda Priddy, and General Motors, the limousine, which has the intricate, dual-textured grille, is also equipped with standard Goodyear Regional RHS truck tires in a 285/70R19.5 size, on 19.5-inch wheels. The rims have a run-flat device (manufactured by Hutchinson Industries). Xenon headlights from the Escalade are installed in the front, while the rear has some STS part. The doors are at least 20 centimeters (8 inches) thick. It carries the US flag on the front fenders and an embroidered Seal of the President of the United States is affixed to several panels in the back.

According to the US Secret Service, the vehicle would be a “valuable asset” in providing the President with the highest level of protection. “Although many of the vehicle’s security enhancements cannot be discussed, it is safe to say that this car’s security and coded communications systems make it the most technologically advanced protection vehicle in the world,” Nicholas Trotta, Assistant Director for the Office of Protective Operations said in a statement. The new limousine is the responsibility of White House Transportation Agency.

One of the specifications is that we don’t talk about the specifications.

The Presidential State Car is the official state car used by the President of the United States. It is informally known as “Cadillac One”. The current Presidential State Car is a 2005 hand-crafted, armored, and stretched DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) built on a GM four-wheel drive platform. It was first used on the second inauguration parade of George W. Bush in 2005. But the version to be used by President Obama uses a GMC Topkick chassis, while maintaining the Cadillac exterior.

The President of the United States travels in one of two armoured Cadillac limousines based upon the normal sedan, the Cadillac DTS, with heavy customisation. Lincoln cars have also been used in the past, most notably by President John F Kennedy. The current limousines were custom-built by O’Gara, Hess and Eisenhart, founded in Fairfield, Ohio in 1942. It specializes in armouring limousines for presidents and heads of state.

President William McKinley was the first US president to ride in an automobile. However, it was President Theodore Roosevelt who rode on the first government-owned car, a white Stanley Steamer. Roosevelt’s successor, William Howard Taft, was the first president to use a presidential state car that was permanently stored in the White House garage.

Meanwhile, Obama’s 2005 Chrysler 300C Hemi was auctioned on eBay with a starting bid of $100,000 and a buy-it-now price of $1,000,000. It has less than 21,000 miles on it and is in like-new condition. He leased the car in 2004 and traded it for a Ford Escape Hybrid in 2007. The car was sold to Tim O’Boyle.

5 Great Ways To Spoil Your Dog

5 Great Ways to Spoil Your Dog

by

Robert Hartzell

We prefer to reward them, like with a dog treat when they perform a trick correctly. Well, even after the training stops, you don t have to quit spoiling your dog. Here are a few fun ideas that guarantee your dog will have his day maybe even a few of them.

1)Chew Toys/Squeaky Toys

A relatively inexpensive option as far as dog gifts go, chew toys are a classic dog accessory. Be sure to take the size of your dog into account when you buy the toy a Pomeranian is not going to have an easy time with the same toy a Newfoundland would use. If you can bear the sound for the sake of your dog, get a squeaky toy. One that looks like an animal might be especially fun for your canine friend.

2)Dog Clothes

This might be more for your benefit than the dog s, but that all depends. Small or short-haired dogs in cold climates may enjoy a coat or sweater to keep the cold out, and dogs that frequently go off-roading may avoid pad injury by wearing special boots. Of course, there are the purely aesthetic dog clothes that can be a lot of fun. Just make sure your dog seems to be having fun, too. There s no point trying to spoil your doggy with clothes if he s miserable with them on.

3)A Bed of His Own

Rewarding great pooches with luxury dog beds is a great idea. We all spend a lot of time in our beds (when we can afford the time, anyway), and certainly your dog likes to nap in comfort just as much as you do. Some of us enjoy sleeping with our dogs, but 53% of dog owners admit their canine keeps them awake at night. If he s sleeping in your bed and you can t take it anymore, you might want to go the extra mile and consider features beyond a typical dog bed. As with the other suggestions, take your specific dog into consideration when deciding what luxury features are right for your four-legged friend.

4)Homemade Treats

It s always a special occasion when you cook for friends and family. Don t you think your dog would appreciate a home-cooked meal now and then, too? Take a break from the prepackaged stuff and dedicate a day in the kitchen to your dog. She ll thank you if you re a great chef, maybe she ll even thank you out loud!

5)The Dog Park

You know the way those ears perk up when you say wanna go outside in just the right way? Give your dog something more than the usual walk around the neighborhood take him to an off-leash dog park and let him meet his neighbors. It might just improve his temperament around new people and other dogs, and you might meet some fellow dog lovers along the way.
